Account control
Delete your account and data
You can request deletion of your DigAjo account and personal data at any time. Here is exactly what happens.
How to request deletion
- Open the DigAjo app → Profile → Delete account, OR
- Send an email from your registered address to compliance@digajo.com with the subject "Delete my account".
We will confirm receipt within 24 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted immediately
- Your profile information (name, email, phone, avatar, address).
- Your KYC documents (passport photo, utility bill, liveness selfie) — irreversibly deleted from our object storage.
- Your push notification tokens and device identifiers.
- Your authentication credentials and session tokens.
- Optional profile data you have added.
What we are required to retain (and for how long)
Nigerian financial regulation requires us to retain certain records even after account closure:
- Transaction records — retained for at least seven (7) years to comply with anti-money laundering laws and CBN audit requirements. These are stored in encrypted, access-controlled storage, not visible in any user-facing system after account deletion.
- BVN/NIN hashes — retained as one-way hashes for the same retention period to prevent re-registration with the same identity for fraudulent purposes.
- Audit logs — retained for three (3) years for security incident review.
None of these retained records are linked to your name, contact information, or behavioural profile after deletion. They exist only as immutable financial records, as required by law.
Before you delete
- You must be free of any active ajo circle. Either complete the cycle, or have all members agree to dissolve it first.
- Any wallet balance must be withdrawn first. We cannot delete an account holding customer funds.
- Once deletion is complete, your phone number cannot be reused on a new DigAjo account for 12 months (anti-fraud measure).
Questions
If you are unsure whether to delete or just take a break, contact compliance@digajo.com first. Suspension is reversible; deletion is not.
